The Zebra P640i prints tamper-resistant identification cards with dual sided printing and a one-pass waste-free lamination function. It prints at a resolution of 300 dpi at very nearly 12 dots per mm, at a speed of up to 120 cards per hour for dual sided printing and laminating. It can also print in both monochrome and in full color, using a direct to card dye sublimation method. It has an 8 MB standard image memory with a card hopper input and output capacity of up to 150 cards.
The Zebra P640i is a card printer that uses the dye sublimation method. This procedure makes use of 4 panels of color with the card that is going to be printed making several passes under the print head with the appropriate ribbon panel. Diffusion or sublimation is then put into play with the colors, which are transferred directly onto the card with the possibility of producing several million different color shades on each card. A topcoat is then applied to protect the card from possible damage or other abuse, among other things.AUTHOR
