First unveiled at PC Expo in June 1999, the Eizo FlexScan T550 is a 17 CRT monitor that pioneered flat-screen CRT monitor technology; eliminating the glass curvature previously assosciated with Cathode Ray Tube monitors. It meets several requirements including Energy Start, the CE Mark, TUV Rheinland/ Ergonomie and the then new TCO99 amongst others. Energy Star is an energy-efficiency rating program ran by the US Environmental Protection Agency and the US Department of Energy that awards Labels marking compliance with guidelines in energy usage efficiency. Whilst the Energy Star certification is mostly associated with electronics, the compliance programme extends to homes, building and plants that make efficient use of resources and features such as insulation and temperature-regulating equipment best practices. The CE Mark which stands for Conformite Europeennee (thats French for European Conformity) is a mandatory, self-awarded certificate manufacturers affix to products declaring conformity with EU legislation.
