Sitecom Wireless Network USB adapter Turbo g WL-172

Sitecom Turbo g WL-172 wireless network USB adapter is capable of offering data transfer speeds of up to 54 Mb/sec, when connected to any 2.4 GHz (Turbo g standard) compatible network. The device is compliant with 802.11b/g wireless networking protocols, and also with IEEE 802.11d country roaming standard. It supports a wide variety of security standards, including, but not limited to WEP encryption (64/128/256-bit) and WPA. The device does not skimp on physical safety of equipment, either. The antenna that enhances the wireless signals, for instance, is placed inside the hard shell of the adapter. This keeps the antenna safe from physical impacts, at all times.

The device supports DSSS (Direct-Sequence Spread Spectrum) modulation technology, in which the signal being transmitted takes up a lot more bandwidth than what the information signal (which is modulated by the recipient device) would consume. The term spread spectrum has been given to the technology since the carrier signals tend to cover the total range of bandwidth supported by the device transmitting the signal. For instance, if a device supports frequencies between 3 kHz and 3 MHz, then a DSSS signal transmitted by the device will cover all frequencies between those two values. As such, these signals are likely to be picked up by a lot more devices than signals produced using any other technology. This is also the reason for high bandwidth consumption while transmitting.
