SATO MB400i is a portable, direct thermal printer capable of offering a maximum printing speed of 100 mm/sec. It can print at resolutions up to 203 dpi on media, which can be as much as 4.49? in width. The device is equipped with various types of sensors, such as reflective, dispenser, and see-through, in order to ensure proper printing on different kinds of media. It supports a wide variety of network technologies, such as USB, RS232 (Serial Port), wireless (802.11g standard), IrDA, and Bluetooth. The device can be connected to a PC or network router by utilizing any of these technologies.
The device is equipped with a see-through sensor, in order to ensure that it does not accidentally try to print on labels with the thermal layer peeled off. Attempting to print on such paper can disrupt the printing process, and may also cause permanent damage to the print head, which is designed to interact with the smooth thermal layer only. The sensor is attached on a glass cover, under which the paper passes during printing. The sensor continuously detects the structural integrity of the thermal layer, and stops the printing process immediately, if it detects that a particular label does not have the coating.AUTHOR
