The Samsung SyncMaster 550v is a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) monitor that offers a 35 cm viewable area and has an angle of deflection equal to 900. The device is capable of providing a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768, and can display unlimited colors. The maximum pixel clock speed of the monitor equals 65 MHz, and its dot pitch is 0.24/0.14 (mm). The silica-coated picture tube of the device is of the type medium-short persistence phosphor, and features an anti-glare coating. The monitor offers a horizontal syncing rate of 30 ? 55 (kHz), and a V-Sync rate of 50 ? 120 (Hz).

The monitor is equipped with a PowerSaver mode, which is an advanced power management system that reduces consumption of electricity in many CRT monitors manufactured by Samsung. The technology automatically puts the monitor in a low-energy mode and turns off the screen, when the device has not been in use for an extended period of time. However, as soon as the user moves the mouse or presses a button on the keyboard, the monitor resumes normal operation. The PowerSaver technology, used in this monitor, is compliant with DPMS (Display Power Management Signaling) standard, which is approved by Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).
