ATI RADEON X800GT sports a graphics core with 475 MHz clock speed, built using the 130 nm fabrication technology. The card has DDR3 (Double Data Rate Type 3) memory of 490 MHz clock speed, which effectively corresponds DDR memory running at 980 MHz. The memory interface of the product is 256 bit wide, and it offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 31.36 GB/second. The card can be installed on PCI-E x 16 slots. It offers a pixel fill rate (PFR) of 7600 megapixels/sec and a texture fill rate (TFR) of 3800 megatexels/sec. The card supports DirectX 9.0b and OpenGL 2.0 standard graphics, when rendering 3D applications like games and HD movies.
The device supports Graphics Double Data Rate 3 (GDDR3) type memory. This memory technology, which applies only to graphics cards, was designed by ATI Technologies, in collaboration with the Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC). The technology is somewhat similar in structure to DDR2 memory type, but in GDDR3, 4 bits of data are transferred per pin in every two clock cycles, in order to improve throughput. Besides, the requirement for dispersal of both power and heat is lessened. This allows individual memory modules to perform with greater efficiency, while also allowing usage of more simplified cooling systems on GPUs.AUTHOR
