Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Deluxe is a webcam capable of capturing video at a resolution of 640 x 480, with the help of QuickCapture software, which allows the device to automatically zoom and track movements of the user?s face during recording. It can also capture still images in a wide range of resolutions, from 160 x 120 pixels to 1.3 megapixels. The device features a highly sensitive integrated microphone for recording audio streams, which utilizes RightSound technology to automatically reduce the amount of ambient noise when the user is carrying out a video chat. The camera supports many popular video chat software programs, including Yahoo! Messenger, AOL AIM, and Windows Live!

The integrated microphone of the device utilizes RightSound technology (developed by Logitech), which helps in eliminating acoustic echo during conversations. Usually, when two people engage in video chat with the help of webcams with integrated microphones and speakers, both users are likely to hear echo of their own voices. This happens when the microphones pick up their voices from the speakers and start transmitting those along with the actual conversation. This results in distorted speech that is difficult for users on both sides to understand. RightSound identifies these repetitions by analyzing frequencies of each voice that is recorded through the microphone, and automatically eliminates those repeated audio streams, thereby canceling any kind of echo.
