HP Officejet t45, which belongs to the HP Officejet T-Series of Multi-Functional Devices (MFD), combines a printer, a scanner, and a fax machine into a single device. It is capable of printing 11 pages of text in black ink per minute in the ‘Fast’ quality setting. When it comes to printing color graphics at the same quality, the device can churn out around 8.5 pages every minute. The printer supports 4 True Type Fonts (TTF), as well as italicized variants of those. The maximum printing resolution that the device is capable of providing is 600 x 600 DPI, for both B/W text and color graphics.

The device uses Printer Command Language (often abbreviated as PCL) developed by Hewlett Packard (HP) to communicate with the computer it is connected to. Hewlett-Packard developed this language as a protocol for printers. PCL scripts send information about the overall structure of a page to the computer, but do not include details about the bitmap image created by the printer before printing. The product supports PCL 3, the third generation version of the language. This version allows printers to handle a wide variety of halftone settings, when printing raster or vector graphics and text. It also adds support for adaptive halftoning technique, if it is not already supported by the device.
