The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX, a GPU designed by NVIDIA for notebook computers, features seamless support for Vertex Shader version 3.0, based on DirectX 9 graphics acceleration technology developed by Microsoft. It also includes various other features such as Subsurface Scattering and High Dynamic Range (HDR) for powerful and immersive lighting effects. Like all the other cards in the GeForce Go 7000 series, this card has a 256-bit memory interface and features support for Shader Model 3.0, based on Microsoft DirectX 9. It can run graphically intensive applications like video games and encoding software that make use of Multiple Render Target (also referred to as MRT) technology.

The video card uses PureVideo Technology developed by NVIDIA to run High Definition (HD) movies on displays that support the technology. This includes videos encoded using the H.264, WMV9, and MPEG-2 codecs. The card offers 5-tap vertical video scaling and 4-tap horizontal video scaling, clearing up any tearing of textures on screen, which would otherwise occur in HD videos being played on supported displays, but without dedicated graphics hardware. It can also sharpen images to counteract the slight fading of textures that often occur on LCD monitors of earlier generations. Additionally, it features an integrated port for TV output, which allows display of HD videos from a computer to compatible HD television sets.
