Windows Media Player 11 is the latest release of Microsoft’s video and audio player. Here’s the low-down:
- The entire look of Media Player has been revamped with a significant update to the controls and the way cover artwork is displayed.
- Windows Media Player 11 features the new music store URGE – a joint venture between MTV and Microsoft. You can also access the following stores: Audible, FYE, Live365, Movielink, MSN Music, Napster, Passalong, Puretracks, Wal-Mart, and XM Radio.
- The downside is that Media Player will only support Microsoft Digital Rights Management (DRM) tracks. That means you won’t be able to play songs purchased through iTunes.
- As expected, Media Player 11 also can rip CDs and play videos/DVDS. It can also organise music libraries and manage downloads to media devices (eg MP3 players).
