It took some time, but HP have finally released information on drivers for Windows Vista. In a nutshell, if your product is ‘old’ and a scanner (Scanjet), you can expect the following response:
‘We are sorry to inform you that there will be no Windows Vista support available for your HP product. Therefore your product will not work with Windows Vista. The majority of HP products not supported in Windows Vista are beyond seven years old. If you are using the Windows Vista operating system on your computer, please consider upgrading to a newer HP product that is supported on Windows Vista.’
Some of the products affected by HP’s Vista driver policy include the popular ScanJet 3200c, ScanJet 3300c and ScanJet 4200c. HP has promised to release drivers for certain products. However, unless the product is new-ish or was designed with Vista in mind, the number of available features is likey to be reduced.
