The Canon CP-220 is a compact photo printer that uses dye sublimation to print photos from PictBridge compatible cameras or PCs. Dye-sublimation uses heat to transfer dye from a ribbon to the photograph paper. This type of printing uses 3 colours; Cyan, Magenta and Yellow on a cellophane ribbon and once printed, an additional layer of over-coating is transferred onto the picture making it heat and water proof. Each colour panel has to be the same size as the photograph and it can only be used once. It is possible to retrieve an image from the waste cartridge and as such one should always dispose of this carefully.
