Vinyl AC’97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM)

This download updates the driver for VIA Vinyl AC97 sound card to the latest version as per manufacturers release notes. The vinyl_v700b.zip driver is valid for all VIA Vinyl AC97 codec Combo Driver (WDM) sound cards with the following specs;
Type: Chipset
Sampling Rate: 96kHz
Resolution: 20bits

The AC97 is an audio-codec standard built by the Intel Architecture Labs in 1997. It has since served as the standard audio codec implementation in mainboards, modems and soundcards. The AC97 offers 8-channels with a maximum of 96kHz sampling rate and resolution maxing out at 20Bits for both Analog and Digital I/Os. On the 15th of April 2004 Intel released the High Definition Audio Specification, replacing the AC97 codec. There is no backward compatibility between the 2 making the HD Audio Specification an entirely separate specification from AC97.
