StarTech Mini USB Bluetooth 2.1 Adapter – Class 2 EDR Wireless Network Adapter is capable of offering a maximum data transfer rate of 3 Mbit/sec, and supports USB 1.1 connectivity technology. The product can operate on a frequency of 2.4 GHz (ISM), and has a maximum operating range of 20 m. It draws very little power (approximately 0.1W) when active, and is equipped with an LED, which indicates whether the product is powered on at the moment, or is in standby mode. The adapter is equipped with a 4-pin USB A socket, and is extremely small in size, which allows the user to keep it attached with the laptop at all times.

The product supports ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band of frequency, which is reserved internationally for emergency communications. The device uses the 2.4 GHz band of frequency within this range. Since there are very few devices around that use this range of frequencies, communication between the product and other devices can be carried out without any interference. As such, the network created using the device can be expected to provide high data transfer speed, with few or no dropouts in connection. The internal chip antenna also plays a role in keeping the signal strong, and is kept safe from physical impacts by the shell of the device.
