The Thomson ST536v6 is a multi user router with one Ethernet port and one hi-speed USB port for connectivity. This allows users to connect almost any and all devices to the internet, including computers, game consoles and set top boxes. The WAN interface of the device is a standard RJ11 connector. Meanwhile, an integrated firewall ensures that devices connected to the router are protected, thereby providing performance without compromising on security. This firewall is fully configurable to ensure flexibility and compliance with the user’s security policies. Installation is a simple 5-step process and the setup wizard can be customized to incorporate various branding elements, which is convenient for service providers.

One of the features of this device is compatibility with ADSL2+ technology. ADSL2+, which is also known as ITU G.992.5, is an improvement over basic ADSL that doubles the downstream bit rate. Theoretically, this means a maximum possible downstream data rate of 24 Mbit/sec and a maximum possible upstream data rate of 1.4 Mbit/s. Of course, the actual data rate will depend on the distance between the point of connection and the DSLAM. ADSL2+ achieves this by increasing the frequency band of ADSL connections to 2.2 MHz, effectively doubling it. Data rates can be improved even more via port bonding, which is assigning multiple ports to a single user.
