The HP PhotoSmart P1100 is a thermal inkjet photo printer capable of printing digital B/W photographs at a maximum resolution of 600 x 600 DPI at best quality settings. For color photographs printed in similar quality, the highest resolution offered by the device is 2400 x 1200 DPI. The printer can save or print photographs from memory cards of digital cameras, and can use the card as a separate disk drive while printing. Users can also print, or save photographs by sending those directly to the device from a digital camera, via an infrared controller. The printer can produce a maximum of 5,000 prints every month.
The printer supports proprietary JetSend technology developed by HP, which allows a user to send images from a digital camera to a printing device using infrared pulses, or a direct network connection. Both the devices need to be able to support JetSend technology, and must be powered on for the transfer to take place. Apart from the digital photographs, the camera can also send (or receive) various other types of information to (or from) the printing device using JetSend, such as network address of the camera, the structure of the queue when printing multiple images, information regarding success or failure of the printing job, and so on.AUTHOR
