The OKI C5200n Digital Color Printer is designed specifically to handle large printing jobs. The device is equipped with a 200 MHz PowerPC processor and 32 MB memory (which can be expanded up to 288 MB), in order to store and process long printing queues. It can print 16 pages per minute in full color, and the count goes up to 24 when dealing with monochrome print jobs. It can offer a maximum resolution of 1200 x 600 DPI in any kind of printing. The heavy duty build of the device allows it to offer a monthly duty cycle of up to 50,000 pages.
The device uses High Definition Light Emitting Diode (HD LED) printheads developed by OKI. The printheads utilize proprietary ProQ technology, in which a template of the text (or images) is first created on a outer surface of a photo-sensitive drum, which is covered completely with LEDs. During printing, the LEDs are powered up, and the outer surface develops a static electric charge. This charge attracts the toner from the cartridge, which is placed on paper by the drum, and then heated to print the text (or images) in high quality. The LEDs do not feature any moving parts, consequently lasting much longer than laser printheads, and also come with a lifetime warranty, offered by the manufacturer.AUTHOR
