Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller

The ECS Black Extreme A990FXM-A is the first motherboard to be 8 Core-ready, specifically for the AMD chipset in its name. It has AMD CrossfireX and NVIDIA SLI technology whilst offering DirectX 10.1 support. It features Realtek ALC892 7.1CH HD audio, content protection for Blu-Ray as well as silent cooling abilities. It also has 6 SATA 6Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 configurations. Furthermore, it also sports a USB3.0 Port for very fast transfer speeds. It is advertised as a gaming station.

SATA is the successor to the PATA interface standard, and it boasts trimmer cable prescriptions, fewer conductors in its requirements, improved rates for signalling, and even the ability to hot swap. These advantages led to it all but suffocating its predecessor?s presence in several markets by 2008, leading to a sharp decline in PATA usage by manufacturers from then on. PATA is still being used in some industries and fields, of course, but industry analysts say that it is going to be replaced even in those by SATA soon.
