The CAPI 2.0 driver has the CAPI SoftFax G3 (14,400 bit/s) for fax communication, the CAPI SoftModem V.32bis, and the CAPI SoftCompression X.75/V.42bis, a data compression protocol for more rapid communication. The AVM Middleware suite is composed of several drivers: the AVM NDIS WAN CAPI Driver, the AVM ISDN TAPI Service for CAPI, and the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver. The ISDN CAPI Port Driver mimics an analog modem, enabling programs intended for modems to communicate via the ISDN-Controller in its place.

Integrated Services Digital Network, more widely referred to as ISDN, is the set of standards for the conveyance or transmission of various types of data over a typical telephone network. The key characteristic of ISDN is that it is capable of integrating (hence the first word in its name) at least 2 connections at the same time on one line, making it a powerful type of communication technology. ISDN is used for many things, including the provision of access to the Web in many locales.
